ProDOS compliant NVRAM SSD Drive 512kB v2.3, Read/Write for Apple II vintage computers.
Bootable. Preloaded with ProDOS, DOS3.3 and old games for test.
When installed boots up instantaneously into ProDOS and a boot menu appears from which 10+ programs and games can be run.
Has dedicated SRAM on board and can be written to without the need for AUX memory - works on computers with as little as 64kB RAM.
Files can be saved to it, copied from another storage device or deleted as needed.
A good substitute for a floppy disk drive with more than 3 times the capacity.
The memory can also be reprogrammed with images, created by CiderPress, for which a programmer can be used.
Before purchase please make sure ProDOS can work on your system form a floppy disk - especially on some original Apple II computers. 64kB RAM is obligatory for ProDOS to load. Flash can inadvertently be erased if the computer is turned off while a write cycle is in progress. Can be restored with tools as described in GitHub - a programmer may be needed or another disk image card.
The card should be properly installed while observing the "Keyboard" arrow. Any failure to do so will result in damage to the computer and the card.
