This is a glass build plate to replace the cheap and often times warped, acrylic build plate on a Makerbot Replicator 2 Desktop 3D Printer. Get smooth, level, consistent 3D prints by switching to a glass build plate.
The glass build plate looks truly glorious, it really makes the design of the printer shine, but what it does for the quality and consistency of the actual prints is even more glorious...
I cannot tell you how much time I have spent trying to level those cheap acrylic plates, it is so tough to do when they are warped, nothing is more frustrating... I have gone through 3 of those acrylic plates, at a certain point they just become so warped you end up spending so much time leveling them just to peel off an inferior print.
The glass is also nice, solid and the wobbling of the plate will be nearly eliminated during prints.
Switching to a glass plate will take your 3D printer to the next level.
Aquanet hairspray is highly recommended for use.(not included)
The actual item you are purchasing is shown in the picture above.
11.25 x 6.5 x 3/8 tempered.
These pads are what we use for mounting but there are plenty of options out there... http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:44162
I prefer to ship only inside of the U.S. but the Makerbot community has been great to me and I would love to return the favor... if people outside of the U.S. are interested, maybe you could track down the cheapest option for us and we can work something out, our zip is 90245.
