Excellent product!

I got two of them and was expecting an easy transition from the cc2531 stick that I had been testing with. For me it was not straightforward, but this was due to my setup. There was an other integration still trying to access the USB serial port and caused the device to lock. I soft bricked one by attempting to 'fix' my issues by flashing a different firmware, but Giovanni set me straight. Both are now working perfectly, and I am very pleased.

There is a minor issue with one of the sticks where the flash button is broken (the metal housing of the button came loose) but I have a workaround for that if I need it.

No doubt the best zigbee controller you can have

Long time z-wave user, I was skeptical of the zigbee range and reliability. Tested a couple of other Comercial options and ended up returning.
Decided to buy this device and its flawless. I have battery powered devices far away, with obstacles that other controllers couldn't reach out. This one, won't lose a single message. Have some issues with the postal service during Christmas time and covid disruptions but the seller was always available and willing to do his best to expedite. Super satisfied.

CC2538

Ho comprato 2 chiavette 2538 e ne sono molto soddisfatto.
Io le uso in HA con Zigbee2mqtt e funzionano bene.
Ho accoppiato tutte le mie lampadine HUE eliminando l' utilizzo del bridge.
Ho messo qualche sensore di temperatura Aqara e li rileva bene su diversi piani della mia casa.
Mai una disconnessione.

Aggiungo la completa disponibilità di Giovanni ad aiutarmi su alcuni miei errori.
Consigliatissima

This was a problem solver

I was having issue with ConbeeII so I decided to switch to this item. In less tan 4 minutes i was up and running.
My Home Assistant installation work perfectly and I have no issue with Ikea and Xiaomi products.

CC2538 + CC2592 - Dongle Zigbee

I'm happy, definitely a different planet than my old CC2531. With this dongle I reach every corner of the house with a more than good signal. Excellent interaction with Home Assistant. I advise.

Excellent choice

The dongle has been now up and running for a week now - absolutely fantastic. Not a single problem.

Compared to my previous dongle (CC2531), I can pair devices (I have 56 pcs currently) directly to the dongle (although obviously some wanted to connect via a router device) and the range is much higher. I don't have LoS to any device, dongle is in a storage room, minimum 2 walls to outside, still a battery operated device (Smartthings button) works at least 30m away, at the edge of my property. That is way farther than with previous dongle, which had trouble even indoors (just a note, I have some Xiaomi sensors that don't like to be rerouted - pairing directly to dongle ensures there is no rerouting. Thus the dongle range makes a difference).

Attached documentation is limited, and links to zigbee2mqtt.io -pages anyway. Installation and pairing couldn't have been simpler. Shipping was prompt, but took 2 weeks from Italy to Finland using standard shipping.

Communications with the seller is excellent, quick responses to queries.

Works out of the box

Reasonable fats shipping, instructions for setting things up were included.

I'm using this in a home assistant context with zigbee2mqtt on a pi4.

One little question: not sure what the exact FW version is and are there possibilities to update it later on (and how)?

Thanks for your review, firmware is Koenkk zStack 3 latest version.
Yes you can upgrade the firmware but you need to use a JTAG programmer as explained in my tutorial on the official website --> https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/information/flashing_the_cc2538.html
I'm currently working on new release of this hardware that shoudl allow USB flash of new firmware using a special bootloader, but it's still under prototyping...

Zigbee dongle with very good coverage

It has better coverage than cc2531 so it does the job. Nice 3d printed enclosure.
Firmware is already installed, so I just plugged in, repair all devices, and it flawlessly works with Home Assistant.

No documentation needed, no communication needed.

Perfect stick

I run it now for 4 weeks.
It works direct out of the box.
The amount of devices it can handle is indeed much better than the basic CC2531.
It supports all my 35+ devices.
The data process speed is also much faster.
The only con is the range, it is not significant better than the CC2531 with antenna but with some extra smart sockets I can extend the range.
Overal I'm very glad I bought this stick.

Hi Ronald, thanks for your review, all in all positive, I'm sorry your coverage improved by small amount, I can assure you I use a chip with -20db power amplifier and each dongle is tested, I can only assume you have some big "ostacles" (like walls or concrete pavement) that can have serious impact on the signal strenght.
