This offering allows the user to route AC or DC current through the large screw terminal mounted on the PCB in order for it to be measured accurately. The three pin connector supplies power and ground to the circuit board, and also outputs an analog voltage that is proportional to the AC or DC current flowing through the screw terminal.
This product is perfect for safely interfacing microcontrollers into current measurement applications!
The measurement output voltage varies with the amount of current flowing through the screw terminal connector. The zero amp voltage is approximately Vcc/2. The output voltage changes about the zero amp voltage by the following rules:
A 5V supply to the device measuring 2 amps would generate an output voltage of ((5V/2) + (.136V/A x 2A))= 2.77V
This product was designed to help designers monitor current consumption on a variety of projects which operate under 100V. Great for use in audio projects, motor controllers, energy metering, etc... Also, this device allows you to measure relatively large voltages and current safely due to the built in isolation.
Note: The IC on this product is rated to measure up to ~15A, however the onboard connector is only rated to 10A MAX.
