The DMM is a must have device for any electronics freak. I was looking for a different approach - instead of buying a standard one. I wanted to have a DMM created by me that has the functions I need. The miliohm meter can be very useful in some cases - it can be used during debugging of some electronics devices which have short connections inside, to locate defective capacitors, resistors, chips..etc. By scanning the area around the short, it can be easily locate the burned out device measuring the resistance of the conductive PCB tracks and finding the place with minimum resistance. Such kinds of devices can be quite expensive and difficult to find on the market.
This is a DIY project, which has the functionality of a cheap standard DMM, but it can be calibrated with higher precision (using for example Arduino DUE). Its functionality can also be further developed. Its range can be changed regarding your requirements and so on. And finally, it is a nice exercise when learning microcontrollers.
