The ESPBee is a serial WiFi module utilizing the popular Espressif ESP8266 WiFi chipset in a standard XBee form factor. The ESPBee has 3.3V IO pins and can be used with 3.3V Arduino boards, as well as any other 3.3V microcontroller platform including the Raspberry Pi and BeagleBone. Signals are brought out to the XBee interface to support full duplex UART communication with hardware flow control (TXD, RXD, CTS and RTS). The CH_PD signal is connected to the ON/SLEEP XBee interface pin to enable the lowest power sleep mode. Bootload and Factory Reset modes can be manually initiated by jumper wires if needed.
The ESPBee module has a powerful 32-bit ESP8266 processor with lots of storage capacity, built-in LWIP protocol stack. The ESPBee also supports simultaneous Access Point (AP) mode and Station (STA) mode. The ESPBee supports a well-documented AT command interface for configuration, setup and microcontroller communication.
