It’s a modern remake of the Commodore VIC-1011 interface with UP9600 enhancement to allow baud rates up to 9600 (only when used with Novaterm and Striketerm software).
It’s the perfect companion for the Simple Wifi RS232 Modem!
Turn off the Commodore computer and plug the RS232 Serial Adapter into the user port. Connect to the db25 port on the back the serial device you want to use and load the terminal software. The most features rich are Novaterm and Striketerm. When you select “user port” mode the maximum baud rate you can set is 2400. This RS232 Serial Adapter supports also speeds up to 9600 baud using different wiring to the two CIAs available on the user port. To select this enhancement you must place two jumpers (in vertical position) and move up the third one. In Novaterm/Striketerm select UP9600 and then a baud rate (see photos to understand jumpers position).
Please remember that you can’t use the UP9600 with Burst Mode devices on Commodore 128 (such as 1571 and 1581 drives).
