Unfortunately the cost of production has increased dramatically. I will be out of stock until I can find another manufacturer.

Read More…A small board with an ATmega382 microcontroller, designed to read the signals from a Peet Bros PRO Anemometer and provide a standard NMEA 0183 serial output. The board can be used via USB with a FTDI cable, plugged directly on a Raspberry Pi's GPIO header (soldering required) or acts as a NMEA 0183 Version 2+ talker.
The slighter newer version of the board (v3.2) can also output signals to drive a B&G Network Wind Display, otherwise the functionality is identical. Please select this option when ordering.
I have successfully been using a prototype of this board for a year now to record the wind speed and direction on my boat, see my blog post on: mechinations.net
A schematic and manual on the board's functions can be found here: mechinations.net/wind-v3.
Accuracy: My guess at accuracy is roughly +/- 2 degrees for the direction, and +/- 1 knot for speed. These values may be worse at high speeds (>25 knots).
Dimensions: 45 mm long, 40 mm wide, 16mm high. (for v3.0)
Power: The board operates at 5V and can be powered from a Raspberry Pi's 5V supply, or from a FTDI USB cable, or from 7V to 20V DC using the screw terminal input and on-board regulator. Typically draws 25mA @ 12VDC.
