ZBR1 is a Zigbee/802.15.4 based development expansion board for Raspberry Pi. Supports Zigbee/802.15.4 wireless communication. Designed to be used alongside with Raspberry Pi 2B, 3B, 3B+ и 4B. The PCB contains: Zigbee radio module, clock with battery backup, fan drive, EEPROM, LEDs, button, and other components soldered. Provides connectivity between Raspberry Pi and thousands of types of Zigbee based sensors and actuators, available on the market.
Built-in radio module E18-MS1PA1-IPX for Zigbee communication. The communication between the Raspberry Pi processor and the radio module is via a serial interface. The loading of a firmware into radio module is possible, by controlling 3 pins from the GPIO header. No external programming adapters are required. The radio module E18-MS1PA1-IPX is equipped with: built-in U.FL connector for connecting to an external antenna, built-in CC2530 wireless controller and CC2592 range extender with integrated PA + LNA. In case of power failure and / or lack of internet connection, the available on the board real-time clock helps the Raspberry Pi device to keep the exact time. The communication between the Raspberry Pi processor and the clock is via the I²C interface. In case of lack of power, the clock is powered by a lithium battery CR1220 (not included in the package). The board is equipped with a non-volatile memory, allowing to store configuration data or to implement ID EEPROM according to Raspberry Pi HAT requirements. The communication between the Raspberry Pi processor and the clock is via the I²C interface. A button on the board allows you to implement a user function - for example, selection of modes of operation. The three LEDs on the board show: - LED1 - presence of supply voltage; - LED2 - user function, e.g. operating mode; - LED3 - user function, e.g. status of the Zigbee communication. On the board there is an implemented drive for control of an external fan. In order to avoid overheating, the Raspberry Pi software can monitor the temperature of the processor part and can switch on a cooling fan when it rises above certain values. The fan is controlled by PWM, which allows regulation of its speed. The connection of ZBR1 board to the Raspberry Pi is made by built in 2x20 connector.

Each order will contain a ZBR1 development board as in the picture, but without battery (due to regulatory base requirement the battery is not included in the package). Some differences in the color are possible.
We recommend the battery type CR1220 to be used with ZBR1 board.

Each option can be ordered using the options in the upper right corner of this page. The ordered options will be separately packed (i.e. will not be assembled to the development boards), so as to avoid possible damage of the items during the transportation. Normally we ship the items in a couple of days, but it may take longer to arrive.

It is supposed that you are acquainted and have some experience with Raspberry PI, its installation and programming.

ZBR1 is delivered "blank" – without any code on the wireless microcontroller. It is necessary at first to program it before it can do anything. As far as the development board can be used in different applications, a limited after-sales support can be provided - for the board itself (i.e. programming it), but not for the other elements of the respective application, for which it is used. An unexhaustive list of recommended resources with software and firmware can be find in the instructions for use of the development board.
Before using the development board please read the instruction for use. Inappropriate action may cause board damage.
The development board has to be used only alongside with Raspberry Pi 2B, 3B, 3B+, 4B. Keep this board away from heat, solar radiation, dust and liquids. Use the board indoor. Protect it from electrostatic discharge.
This development board is designed to allow product developers to evaluate electronic components, circuitry, or software associated with the development board to determine whether to incorporate such items in a finished product and software developers to write software applications for use with the end product. This development board is not a finished product and when assembled may not be resold or otherwise marketed unless all required by EU rules (or any other local authority) equipment authorizations are first obtained. Operation is subject to the condition that this development board do not cause harmful interference to licensed radio stations and that this development board accepts harmful interference.
