GRBL is an open source high performance, low cost CNC motion controller for Arduino hardware. It will run on any Arduino with an ATMega328P chip (Uno, Duemilanove etc.) and is an excellent alternative to typical parallel port CNC control.
The silkscreen is for the 0.8 or traditional layout. For 0.9+ with PWM spindle control, Z limit and spindle enable/speed pins are swapped.
The Arduino GRBL Shield breaks out the standard Arduino pins to standard screw terminals for quick and easy setup of CNC and motion control systems.
Setup is simple - just connect your stepper drivers to the X, Y & Z step & direction connectors and you can get things moving (note: it is very much recommended you also hook up limit switches for each axis!).
Controlling the CNC
I highly recommend Zapmaker's GRBL Controller (available for both Mac & Windows). This excellent software will give you a visual interface to interact with the CNC controller and send Gcode data. See their website here.
